Bursting as birches do
I am left on my own
Moss
Out of town
Most of my life has just passed away in a bonfire
Blurrying as blushes do
I am staying here in the mess of woods
I’ll build myself a house out of
Myself
A sky so blown
As a rooftop under which I’ll carry on
Picture after picture
I guess I’ll just pour myself some tea
Under leaves and heaps
Over lush
Let me disappear in between
Branches
Let me connect until I liquefy into mud
Dust
Spread on a bark with a brush
Ash
Blent in with moist
This poem has been prompted by Reena Walkling’s picture – thanks to dVerse Poets Pub and their prompt of today.
very nice….i make a house of myself…connect until i liquefy with the mud…so very nice…i caught the hint of fire in there too…sad but also makes the way for new life…
How true, just like extreme heat molds beautiful pieces of ceramics. Life continues.
There’s something about this wordpress blog « theme »/format that won’t allow me to comment unless in a reply. So I’ll write here. 🙂
This poem is excellent. These lines are incredible:
« Bursting as birches do
I am left on my own
Moss »
« I’ll build myself a house out of
Myself »
« Under leaves and heaps
Over lush »
« Let me connect until I liquefy »
Wow, thank you! Much appreciated.
In fact I had the same problem with another WordPress blog 😦
Lovely images…. I like the last ending lines….it is hopeful and a hint of new beginnings ~
Nice to meet you at D’verse ~
Thank you! Nice to meet you too 🙂
A great piece… lovely POV. I really like the first stanza.
Thank you! Maybe my favourite too- the one that came out fastest anyway 🙂
Most of my life passed away in a bonfire. This poem, although beautifully written, echoed of sadness- melancholy. Like a person on a voyage on their own- wanting to disappear – and as invisible as the trees. Really like your use of words and form- this is free flowing!
Thank you! Your comment echoes my soul. Free-flowing, melancholic soul, that is.
Wonderful write. Some awesome lines here, molded into a very beautiful piece of poetry.

Thank you! You lit a bonfire in my heart.
ah i love this…Let me disappear in between
Branches
Let me connect until I liquefy into mud….this is just awesome…becoming one with nature…def. love it..
Thank you! It seems like disappearing in nature is easier than in town. Though it might not…
This has a haiku quailty that I really like, though it’s longer in structure. Your ability to capture silences in the midst of emotions bordering on self-annihilation are really striking. That Zen notion of seeking emptiness comes across very clearly, though here the pathos is perhaps non-Zen, which might not necessarily be a bad thing at all. The following line really caught my ear:
Dust
Spread on a bark with a brush
I’m honoured. Thank you for seeing connections with my Japanese inspirations – I sometimes don’t notice them myself. Very appreciated.
the disappearing between the branches part is very much the way water painting seems to be
private dreamliner
Thank you. Exactly, this picture looks just like watercolour!
